Yugi sighed. He was getting both tired and bored of the Queen of Hearts, who he found to be a very short temper woman. From his memories, he had recently arrived in the area in which the Queen of Hearts was living to find cards, yes cards, painting some white roses red. Curiously he went up to the cards and asked them why they were painting them red.

"Well, young man," said the Ace of Spades. "We accidently planted the white roses by mistake and the queen prefers them to be red!"

"Does it really matter?" asked Yugi, puzzled about why the cards looked scared.

"She will raise a fuss if she saw them white!" exclaimed the Ten of Diamonds.

"And if she raises a fuss, we'll each loose our heads," said the Three of Clubs.

"Goodness!" Yugi said, raising a hand to his neck like he was going to loose his head. He picked up a brush and paint pot and walked over to the bush that was shape like a Spade. "Here, let me help you. If we work together, we can get all the roses done." The cards were happy to know that they were getting some extra help, so they got back to work quickly painting the white roses red.

Suddenly, the sound of trumpets filled the air and Yugi and the cards jumped. The sounds of the trumpets indicated that the queen was coming and the cards began to panic. They tossed their paintbrushes away and hid most of the paint pots, except for the one that got stuck on the Three of Clubs' head. The cards were laying face down on the ground and Yugi realizing what was going on did the same thing.

"Make way!" shouted one of the cards approaching where Yugi and the cards were. "The Queen of Hearts and the King of Hearts are coming! Make way!" The cards that were marching down the path in two rows towards the rose bushes lead the queen and her king to where the cards and Yugi were. The cards parted and the queen stepped forward and sneered at the sight of the four who were lying down on the ground. The king followed behind and stood next to the queen.

Yugi looked up a little and gazed at the queen, whose harsh brown eyes stared down at them. She was a fierce looking queen with short girly brown hair and fierce brown eyes. She was wearing a long black and red dress, which was decorated with hearts on it. In her one hand was a scepter with a heart on top and in the other hand was part of the dress she held up to prevent her from tripping. Next to her stood a dirty blonde haired man who had a calmer gaze than the woman. His hair, as mentioned, was dirty blonde and messy and his eyes were a lighter brown color. He was wearing a white suit with hearts on the cuffs of his sleeves and on the buttons that ran down his shirt. He had a red cape with white ruffling flowing behind him as a small wind blew past him. Obviously, these two were the Queen and King of Hearts.

The white rabbit, who Yugi was chasing after when he left the tea party he had with the Mad Hatter and March Hare, quickly hopped up to where the king and queen stood and said, while panting, "Presenting…. Their Royal… Highnesses… the Queen and… King of Hearts…!"

What happened afterwards, Yugi wanted to forget it. He had somehow got away with having his head chopped off, but the cards in the garden were taken away to be beheaded. Yugi cringed at what the queen said to them, but if it weren't for the King of Hearts defending him, he'd be in the same situation as the cards. He stood there waiting for the queen so he could play croquet, which Yugi agreed to play with her. Instead of using balls and mallets for the game, they were using hedgehogs for the balls and flamingoes for the mallets, and the flamingoes were acting like they were drunk. You would act the same way if your head was used to hit a solid hard ball.

"My, my," came a voice from behind Yugi. "What are you doing here, young man?" Yugi turned to see the Ugly Duchess Mai, which everyone called her, approach him, although she didn't appear ugly at all. In fact, to Yugi she appeared rather pretty, especially her long blonde hair. Yugi smiled seeing her come towards him and he bowed to her to show his manners.

"No need to be so formal, young man," she said as she stopped in front of him. "The only person you have to be so formal to is that Queen of Hearts. She wants to behead me since my Cheshire Cat played another prank on her. I told her that it wasn't my doing and that he likes being playful and mischievous, but she didn't believe me."

'Her Cheshire Cat?' Yugi thought to himself. 'I wonder if she is talking about Yami, but does that mean that Yami is hers?' Yugi sighed to himself, thinking that whatever happened in the forest that day must've been a dream. If the Cheshire Cat belonged to the Duchess, would that mean that he was more to her than just being a pet? Yugi sighed and smiled at the Duchess and asked, "Is he really that playful and mischievous, especially toward the Queen of Hearts?"

"Oh, yes indeed," Mai said. "But lately he hasn't been himself. He said that he is in love, which surprises me because he really doesn't like girls." Suddenly two crimson red orbs appeared behind Mai, causing Yugi to jump when he saw them. Those piercing crimson red orbs were looking at Yugi and his whole entire face lit up in a brilliant red color.

"Uh, well--okay. That sounds--uh--wonderful!" Yugi said fiddling his words as he saw the grin of the Cheshire Cat appear under the orbs. "Well, if you would excuse me I--uh--want to look at the…. Flowers. Yes! The flowers! Good-bye, Miss Duchess Lady!" Yugi dashed away to look at some flowers that happened to catch his eyes as he tried to get away from the Cheshire Cat, his heart skipping as he ran from the Duchess.

Mai stood there with a puzzling look on her face and she shook her head when she heard purring. "Oh, Yami, must you scare everyone away?" she asked as Yami's whole body appeared behind her. "Especially the young boy you have a crush on?"

"Well, I don't think he ran because I showed up," Yami said as he stood beside his owner. "I think it was his heart that made him run. I really think he does love me and that's a good thing because that ugly Queen of Hearts has been after me for a long time."

"Just be careful, my little kitten," Mai warned Yami as she scratched him from behind his ear, which he enjoyed and he purred in enjoyment. "You know how Téa gets when she doesn't get her way. Look what Joey has to deal with because of her."

"I know, my mistress," Yami sighed. "I know…"

Meanwhile, Yugi was looking down at the pretty tricolor flowers which looked similar to the color of his hair. However he had something else on his mind and that was Yami. Could it be true that Yami was in love with him? Yugi had no idea because he didn't know much love, except for the love he got from his Grandpa, but he knew that love was different from the love Yami expressed to him that one fateful day. He didn't really know how to explain the kind of love Yami expressed to him, except that it gave him a very pleasant feeling inside of him, a warm kind of feeling that made his body tingle, a furry kind of feeling that made his skin ticklish. Yugi almost swoon into the thoughts, but he managed to catch his balance.

"Enjoying yourself, little one?" asked a familiar voice. Yugi looked up to see Yami laying on his one side on top of stonewall, his striped tail swishing back and forth playfully. Yugi blushed as Yami looked down at him with his crimson red eyes and all Yami could do was smile at the blush.

Yami crawled gracefully down from the wall and once again disappeared, this time into oblivion. Yugi looked around and saw no evidence of the Cheshire Cat, unaware of an evil grin appearing behind him.

"I've missed you, my little one," Yami said as he reappeared and wrapped his strong arms around Yugi's waist. "I'm sorry that I didn't return to you sooner. You see I don't like coming here because the Queen of Hearts has been after more than my head, she's been wanting my heart." He hissed a loud, angry hiss revealing his pearly white catlike teeth, making Yugi cringe a little. Yami felt him cringe and sighed.

"You see, little one, I'm not too fond of that woman or any woman," Yami said as he sat down on the ground, bringing Yugi down with him and into his lap. "We Cheshire Cats are tricky with humans, we like to confuse humans for fun, speak in riddles, and so on and so forth. But since I'm a very handsome Cheshire Cat and have been playing tricks on the queen for a very long time, she has grown quiet fond of me and wants me all to herself. That's why she wants to behead my mistress."

Yugi sighed at the word 'mistress' which made Yami's cat ears perk up and he looked down at his lookalike. Yami gave Yugi's little cheek a kiss and he purred quietly. "But ever since I met you, I have had different feelings towards you than I do towards the queen."

"What do you mean 'different feelings'?" asked Yugi.

There are going to be a couple more parts and I know I am skipping a lot of scenes, but I want the story to focus more around the Cheshire Cat and Yugi.
